Softball Recap: Lakeside Warriors vs. Northwood Falcons
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeside). They never let the Northwood Falcons get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Warriors have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ella Wood made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lakeside let Emily Jones and McKenna Chreene run wild. Jones got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Chreene went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave Chreene a new career-high in RBI. Raleah Harris was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Lakeside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northwood only posted an OBP of .125.
