Softball Recap: Vandalia Comes Up Short

Vandalia was the 17-0 winner over Ramsey when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Vandals lost 14-1 to the Rams on Tuesday. Vandals fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Rams since Tuesday.

Vandalia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arian Dunaway, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Vandalia has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Ramsey, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-10.

Coming up, Vandalia will venture away from home to face off against Odin/Patoka/Sandoval at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ramsey, they will host Dieterich at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Movin Maroons have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
