Preview: Bell Creek Academy Panthers vs. Fort Meade Miners
The Bell Creek Academy Panthers will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Fort Meade Miners at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Bell Creek Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 41 on Thursday.
Bell Creek Academy managed to keep up with Excel Christian Academy until halftime, but things quickly went downhill from there. Bell Creek Academy took a serious blow against Excel Christian Academy, falling 79-48. Bell Creek Academy was down 63-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Despite the defeat, Bell Creek Academy saw an underclassman step up: Christyana Allen dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Allen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliah Newsome, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Bell Creek Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Excel Christian Academy posted 14 assists.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Fort Meade had no problem doing just that on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 51-14 on the road. Fort Meade has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.
Bell Creek Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Fort Meade, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
