Basketball Recap: Gibsonburg Extends Winning Streak to Two

Gibsonburg won the last time they faced Danbury, and Reece Walby did his part to make sure it happened again. The Gibsonburg Golden Bears simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Danbury Lakers 70-36 thanks in part to Walby, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.

Another player making a difference was Aiden Morant, who posted 13 points. What's more, he also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Gibsonburg and bumps their season record up to 13-7. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 35.9% in those games and 28.7% outside of them. As for Danbury, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gibsonburg will challenge St. Mary Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gibsonburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season. As for Danbury, they will take on Woodmore at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Danbury is facing Woodmore at the right time seeing as Woodmore is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
