Kylie Corwin and Morgan Pearson made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Corwin tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Pearson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Corwin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Corwin went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one double, while Pearson went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Those two runs gave Corwin a new career-high.
In other batting news, Brinlee Kreger was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eden Howard, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.
Ontario kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mohawk didn't have quite enough to beat Lincolnview on Wednesday and fell 7-5.
Emily Brickner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Mallory Brickner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Ontario's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mohawk, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ontario hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .351. However, it's not like Mohawk struggles in that department as they've averaged .393. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
