Baseball Recap: Rantoul's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Rantoul hadn't done well against St. Thomas More recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Eagles came out on top against the Sabers by a score of 7-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Levi Duitsman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Rantoul: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Dayton Wilson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Rantoul's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 6-8. As for St. Thomas More, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Rantoul will take on Clinton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Thomas More, they will venture away from home to face off against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
