Football Recap: Raines Wins High-Profile Game Against Lake Mary

Raines faced Lake Mary in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Vikings took their game with ease, bagging a 51-3 victory over the Rams. Fans of the Vikings have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Timothy Cole was a one-man wrecking crew as he threw for 195 yards and two TDs on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 50 yards and one score. Tadarius Washington helped out on the ground, rushing for 106 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 21 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Eddie Hinton, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Raines' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Travis Williams was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

The win was the third in a row for Raines, bringing their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 5.7 points on average this season. As for Lake Mary, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Raines and Lake Mary will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Vikings see the field they'll take on Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on the 26th. As for Lake Mary, their break will end when they face Hagerty at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
