Baseball Recap: Hazen Comes Up Short

Hazen extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 6-12 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Bothell Cougars. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Highlanders were not able to get on the board.

Hazen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Westendorf, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Bothell, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-6. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Bothell's side, Teyton Hardeman made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Hardeman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Wyatt Mickelberry was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Drew Marino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hazen will host Liberty at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bothell, they will welcome Juanita at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Ravens will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
