Baseball Recap: Cathedral Catholic's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Cathedral Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 16-10 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Point Loma Pointers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 25, 2023, but that streak is no more.

The team relied heavily on Trey Gudoy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Harrington, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cathedral Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Point Loma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-10-1. Pointers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Cathedral Catholic since on Tuesday.

On Point Loma's side, Ben Waterman was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Dylan Upjohn also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Cathedral Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Point Loma: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
