Baseball Game Preview: Karnes City Badgers vs. Hondo Owls

The Karnes City Badgers will head out to challenge the Hondo Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Karnes City came out on top against Poth on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Badgers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Pirates a 9-0 shutout. The victory was familiar territory for the Badgers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Meanwhile, Hondo got the win against Cotulla on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Owls.

Hondo got a big performance out of Mason Barr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Barr a new career-high. Josiah Quintanilla was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hondo hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive games.

Hondo pushed their record up to 16-5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Karnes City, their record is now 18-5.

Karnes City might still be hurting after the 19-9 loss they got from Hondo when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Badgers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
