Basketball Recap: Cayuga Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Cayuga's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Quitman on Monday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Eustace Bulldogs by a score of 58-50. The Wildcats have beaten the Bulldogs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bulldogs has come to flipping the script.

Levi Satterwhite was the offensive standout of the contest as he shot 46% from the field to rack up 20 points. Another player making a difference was Gunner Douglas, who almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine boards.

Loss or not, Eustace got some senior leadership from Eli Griffin and Elijah Lezon. Griffin went 5-for-11 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals, while Lezon posted nine points. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for Griffin. Mason Patek also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The win got Cayuga back to even at 1-1. As for Eustace, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Cayuga has already played their next matchup, a 47-43 loss against Winona on the 25th. As for Eustace, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-34 defeat against Ford on the 25th.
