Basketball Recap: Desert Ridge Takes a Loss

Desert Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Hawks. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Emilee Searle had a dynamite game for Highland, going 10 for 18 on her way to 27 points in addition to eight steals and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Searle a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Addi Riggs, who posted six points along with six boards and five assists.

Desert Ridge's record is now 6-11. As for Highland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Ridge has already played their next contest (against Queen Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Highland has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Gilbert.
