Division II-B recap November 19, 2013

Central was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Chariho. The Knights came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 27 last week.

West Warwick added to the longest winning streak in Division II-B this week by beating Mt. Hope, 42-0. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Wizards.

St. Raphael Academy's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Emmanuel Leake threw for 127 and 1 touchdown and James Kelly had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Alfred Dorbor contributed 68 yards. Dorbor helped St. Raphael Academy's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 23 yards.

Dorbor was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 68 yards on 16 carries as the Saints beat Woonsocket. Josh Alves also contributed to the rushing game with 39 yards on the ground.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Kelly. The St. Raphael Academy star has 14 catches for 449 yards.

The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Cumberland and St. Raphael Academy. The Clippers enters the game ranked 12th in the state, while Michael Sassi's team ranks seventh.

One of Division II-B's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Cumberland and the Saints face off next week. Tyler Calabro has thrown for 1,069 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Steven Toetee has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 10.0 sacks.

Next week's game between Chris Skurka's team and St. Raphael Academy will feature a good passing match up as Calabro will test his arm against Dorbor's defensive ability.

There should be lots of points scored when the Clippers and the Saints face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Cumberland comes in having scored 180 this season, while St. Raphael Academy has scored 221. The Clippers scored 42 points last week as they defeated Coventry.

The Saints and the Villa Novans played the closest game in the league this week, with the Saints eventually emerging with a 15-14 victory. Leake ran for 29 yards in the win.
