Baseball Recap: Mission Oak Snags 12th Win in Last 14 Games

Mission Oak had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Tulare Union on Wednesday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Tribe. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Deegan Sartuche made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mission Oak is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-9-1 otherwise. Sartuche was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Mission Oak let Ben Romans and Lucas Sunderland run wild. Romans went 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run, while Sunderland went a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those four hits gave Romans a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Hastin, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Mission Oak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Mission Oak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Tulare Union, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-17-1.
