A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Cardinal Mooney Cougars take on the Academy of the Holy Names Jaguars on Thursday... Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Cardinal Mooney sitting on ten straight victories and Academy of the Holy Names on four.

Cardinal Mooney is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They breezed by Tarpon Springs to the tune of 100-5. The Cougars' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Talia Busser was the offensive standout of the match as she posted 21 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emily Wilson, who earned 15 points.

Calvary Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Academy of the Holy Names proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Warriors, sneaking past 35-32. The win was all the more spectacular given the Jaguars' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Warriors are ranked 85th).

Academy of the Holy Names is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, their victory bumped their record up to 17-9.

Everything went Cardinal Mooney's way against Academy of the Holy Names in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, as Cardinal Mooney made off with a 70-49 win.
