Basketball Game Preview: Chesnee Eagles vs. Laurens Raiders

The Chesnee Eagles will take on the Laurens Raiders at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Last Friday, Chesnee got the win against Liberty by a conclusive 72-52. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Chesnee can attribute much of their success to Elijah Brown, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 30 points and six boards, and Ben Reese, who went 6 for 12 en route to 21 points. Those 21 points gave Reese a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braylon Blanton, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Laurens ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They secured a 67-63 W over White Knoll. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Timberwolves are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chesnee's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.6 points. As for Laurens, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
