Softball Recap: Oil City Oilers vs. Hickory Hornets
Oil City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Hickory Hornets, falling 16-4. The Oilers were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.
Oil City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Autumn Wysocki, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. Libbie Arnink was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Oil City's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hickory, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oil City will host Jamestown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hickory, they will be playing at home against Sharon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 0.8 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
