Baseball Recap: Peoria Lions vs. Bloomington Purple Raiders
Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Bloomington Purple Raiders, falling 15-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Purple Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 on Monday.
Peoria saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stlyz Drummond, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Antarion Dortch also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Peoria's defeat dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Bloomington, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 18-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peoria will host Normal Community at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomington, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Champaign Central at 4:30 p.m. The Maroons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Purple Raiders surely won't give up without a fight.
