Basketball Game Preview: Plattsmouth Blue Devils vs. Auburn Bulldogs

The Plattsmouth Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Auburn Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Plattsmouth will be strutting in after a victory while Auburn will be coming in after a loss.

Plattsmouth will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Platteview, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Plattsmouth had just enough and edged Platteview out 57-55. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Plattsmouth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mila Wehrbein, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wehrbein a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Winters, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Auburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Elmwood-Murdock, falling 46-21.

Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Plattsmouth, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Plattsmouth didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Auburn when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 48-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plattsmouth since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
