Football Game Preview: Irion County Hornets vs. Water Valley Wildcats + How To Watch

Irion County hasn't had much luck against Water Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Irion County headed into their last contest having not scored more than 13 points for three straight, but Paint Rock let them put that streak behind them. The Hornets simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Indians 60-14. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Irion County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Seahorn, who rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 95 yards and three TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes. That's the most passing yards Seahorn has posted since back in August. Another rusher making a difference was Hagen Turman, who rushed for 82 yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Water Valley faced Robert Lee in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Wildcats took their matchup with ease, bagging a 67-30 victory over the Steers. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Irion County picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Water Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 8-0.
