Basketball Recap: Crystal City Javelinas vs. Dilley Wolves
The Crystal City Javelinas entered their tilt with the Dilley Wolves with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Crystal City breezed by the Wolves at home to the tune of 95-59 on Tuesday. With Crystal City ahead 56-31 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Crystal City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayden Rousseau led the charge by scoring 30 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rousseau has scored all season. Eli Mata was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Seth Cano, who scored 21 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorian Aranda, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Crystal City has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. As for Dilley, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-16.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crystal City will face off against the Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Natalia's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Dilley, they will head out on the road to take on the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hondo is on an eight-game streak of home losses, the Wolves a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
