Preview: Garinger Wildcats vs. Sugar Creek Wildcats
The Garinger Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Sugar Creek Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Garinger is out to stop a 19-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Garinger was beaten by Charlotte Catholic 69-18. Garinger has struggled against Charlotte Catholic recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Malik McClendon was Garinger's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Coby Speed held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sugar Creek blew past Apprentice Academy, posting a 89-30 win on the road. The victory was just what Sugar Creek needed coming off of a 78-41 loss in their prior game.
Sugar Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Gatewood led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah McCrey, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Garinger's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Sugar Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
