Football Recap: Jamestown Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Jamestown dropped to 2-3 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 14-7 to the Lewis J. Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Red & Green can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Tigers are ranked 20th).

As for Lewis J. Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average over those games.

Jimmy Valentine had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 172 yards and two scores on only 15 carries. Those 172 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jack Eskridge also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jamestown will take on Hutchinson-Central Tech/Emerson Vo-Tech/City Honors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lewis J. Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East, they will face off against Lockport at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
