Baseball Recap: Francis Lewis Makes It Five in a Row at Home

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Francis Lewis ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Beacon Blue Demons 5-4. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Renos Pagiatakas made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Espn Fan, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Derek Young was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Francis Lewis pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Beacon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Francis Lewis has already played their next matchup (against Beacon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for the Blue Demons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cardozo at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
