The Marion Giants will challenge the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Marion put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They came out on top against Elwood by a score of 14-9.
Taeshawn Inman was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Izaiah Freshwater, who got on base in two of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Oak Hill had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Bruins as they made off with a 10-2 win. Ten seems to be a good number for the Golden Eagles as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Harrison York was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. York was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trenner Boswell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ryan Lawson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Oak Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Oak Hill's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Marion, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-14.
