Basketball Recap: Banks County's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Banks County had won two straight games and Kolby Watson did his part to make it three on Saturday. The Banks County Leopards came out on top against the Commerce Tigers by a score of 64-51 thanks in part to Watson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Dayden Rogers was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (three).

Despite the defeat, Commerce saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Essien Lockleer went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points along with five assists and five steals. Lockleer has become a key player for Commerce: the team is 12-6 when he posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Evan Peters, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Banks County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Commerce, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rabun County the next time they take the court. Commerce will host Rabun County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Banks County will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
