Baseball Game Preview: Holmes County Blue Devils vs. Arnold Marlins

The Holmes County Blue Devils will take on the Arnold Marlins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Holmes County is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Chipley with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Blue Devils are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 13 straight dating back to last season.

Holmes County's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bryant Mathis, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Arnold and Lincoln, and Arnold kept the tradition alive. The Marlins had just enough and edged out the Trojans 3-2 on Thursday.

Arnold let Mason Laymon and Carter Campbell run wild. Laymon went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Campbell went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Laymon has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Braxton Greve, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Everything went Holmes County's way against Arnold when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Holmes County made off with a 9-1 victory. Do the Blue Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Marlins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
