Baseball Game Preview: Frederick Gunn Highlanders vs. Suffield Academy Tigers

The Frederick Gunn Highlanders are taking a road trip to take on the Suffield Academy Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Frederick Gunn has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Frederick Gunn came up short against Taft School on Friday, falling 18-2. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Frederick Gunn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Willis, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Talen McBride also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Suffield Academy gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They skirted past Mount St. Charles Academy 5-4.

Caiden Pena looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.

At the plate, Joe Banks and Gabriel Rivera did most of the damage at the plate: Banks went 2-for-3 with two runs, while Rivera got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Banks has become a key player for Suffield Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

Frederick Gunn's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Suffield Academy, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
