Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Superior). They walked away with a 22-17 win over the Hayden Lobos on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Lobos back in March, they had to take a 12-8 loss.
Lessenia Ramirez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and 12 unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kadynce Toner was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Barbie Ybarra also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Toner wasn't the only one making solid contact: Superior kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Superior's record is now 7-5. As for Hayden, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
Superior will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lobos: the pair will be back at it again later today.
