Football Recap: Hope Comes Up Short

Hope extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 1-7. They took a blow against the Camden Fairview Cardinals, falling 64-13. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bobcats of the 66-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Although Hope took the loss, they still got scores from Noah Cheatham and Brailyn Smith.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cheatham, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for Camden Fairview, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points over those games.

It was another big night for Demarion Robinson, who rushed for 239 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 101.6 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Brodie Dow, who threw for 123 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Coming up, Hope will square off against Arkansas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Razorbacks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43.38 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Camden Fairview, they will challenge Hot Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
