Basketball Recap: Red Springs Takes a Loss

Red Springs managed to slip by Purnell Swett the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Red Devils were dealt a 50-13 loss at the hands of the Rams on Wednesday. The Red Devils were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-2.

Purnell Swett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from True Ellerbee, who went 5-for-8 on her way to 11 points. Those 11 points gave Ellerbee a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaylee Hunt, who posted nine points and three steals.

Red Springs is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for Purnell Swett, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Springs will host Douglas Byrd at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Purnell Swett, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cary at 6:00 p.m.
