Preview: Opp Bobcats vs. Brantley Bulldogs
Opp is 0-6 against Brantley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Opp Bobcats will head out on the road to challenge the Brantley Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. Hopefully Opp focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
Opp has not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against McKenzie by a score of 36-29.
Opp got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samaria Womack out in front who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was TaKyra Crittenden, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Brantley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 70-43 victory over Florala. Brantley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Alex Grimes, who scored 31 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Brantley's points. Annah Parker Little was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Opp's record now sits at 3-18. Brantley's record now sits at 11-8.
Opp took a serious blow against Brantley when the teams last played on January 4th, falling 61-32. Can Opp avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
