Football Game Preview: Delaware County Christian Knights vs. Girard College Cavaliers

The Delaware County Christian Knights will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Girard College Cavaliers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Delaware County Christian has given up an average of 40.2 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Delaware County Christian headed into their last matchup having not scored more than 13 points for three straight, but Morrisville let them put that streak behind them. The Knights snuck past the Bulldogs with a 36-32 victory on Friday. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but the Knights were the better team in the second half.

Daniel Bartkow was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 94 yards and one TD. What's more, he racked up 67.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Christian ODonnell was another key player, gaining 87 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Delaware County Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Delaware County Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Anders McKeaney, ODonnell, and Daniel Hudzina picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Girard College fell victim to Maryland School for the Deaf and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Orioles and fell 56-0.

Delaware County Christian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Girard College, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything came up roses for Delaware County Christian against Girard College in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 56-18 victory. In that game, the Knights amassed a halftime lead of 56-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
