Soccer Recap: Oregon Takes a Loss

Oregon fought the good fight in their overtime game against Byron on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 4-4 score might suggest a draw, it was the Tigers who were credited with the win. The Byron Tigers got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to the Oregon Hawks' four. While losing is never fun, Oregon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Byron are ranked 132nd).

Oregon's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Byron, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Looking ahead, Oregon will square off against Hinckley-Big Rock at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Byron, they will take on Genoa-Kingston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
