Basketball Game Preview: Midtown Knights vs. New Manchester Jaguar

Midtown hasn't had much luck against New Manchester recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 12:30 p.m. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Devin Bockman and Devin Furgess.

On Saturday, Midtown came up short against Carrollton and fell 49-38. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Trojans are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, New Manchester came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points), and they left with even more momentum. They breezed past the Wolves to the tune of 74-6. That 68 point margin sets a new team best for the Jaguar this season.

Midtown's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for New Manchester, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Midtown couldn't quite get it done against New Manchester in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 as they fell 51-43. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
