Recap: Wakulla War Eagles vs. Suwannee Bulldogs
The Wakulla War Eagles are still undefeated this season after their match against the Suwannee Bulldogs on Friday, but the Suwannee Bulldogs came as close as anyone has to beating them. Wakulla skirted past Suwannee 24-21. Given Wakulla's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Suwannee is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wakulla's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Haden Klees, who threw for 331 yards and three touchdowns. Klees is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last ten games he's played. Samron Brinson also helped out with an impressive 178 receiving yards.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marquavious Owens, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Owens was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Koy Frier was another key contributor, throwing for 187 yards and two touchdowns.
Wakulla's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. As for Suwannee, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.
Wakulla does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Suwannee will head out on the road to face off against Bradford at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bradford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
