Softball Recap: Greenville Takes a Loss

Greenville fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against West Catholic on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 on Thursday.

Cam Klco spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Drew Galey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Greenville and nudges their season record down to 7-3. As for West Catholic, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Greenville has already played their next contest (against Mason), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West Catholic, they will square off against Thornapple Kellogg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
