It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cibola ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Rio Rancho Rams. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Isaac Brito, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Escobedo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Cibola's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Rio Rancho, their record now sits at 17-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Cibola is set to face off against their familiar foe Farmington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rio Rancho will square off against rival Piedra Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
