Baseball Game Preview: Nolan Catholic Vikings vs. Liberty Christian Warriors

The Nolan Catholic Vikings will head out to face off against the Liberty Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Nolan Catholic and Trinity Christian meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Vikings fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Liberty Christian waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Panthers.

Ben Brown looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brady Janusek was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Evan Wells, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Liberty Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Liberty Christian pushed their record up to 23-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Nolan Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16-1 record this season.

Nolan Catholic came up short against Liberty Christian in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 10-7. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
