Softball Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Waterford Wildcats
Gustine is 2-8 against Waterford since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Gustine Reds will look to defend their home field against the Waterford Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Gustine will be strutting in after a victory while Waterford will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, it was close, but Gustine sidestepped Denair for a 9-8 win.
Alexis Gallichio made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Gallichio was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kolby Watts was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Shandel Aguilera, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI, and a run.
Meanwhile, sadly, Waterford is still looking for their first win of the season after ten matches. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 19-0 walloping at the hands of Orestimba on Tuesday.
Gustine's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9-1. As for Waterford, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
