Softball Recap: Paragould Rams vs. Batesville Pioneers
13 must be Paragould's lucky number: they beat Batesville with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Rams beat the Pioneers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Lexis Covington made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Brookelyn Key was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Ava Perkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
Paragould always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Batesville only posted an OBP of .250.
