Baseball Recap: Logan County Victorious

Logan County's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Russellville Panthers a 10-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Ty'Sean Thomeczek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Logan County is 3-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 9-10 otherwise. Thomeczek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Hayden Cartas and Drew McLellan did most of the damage at the plate: Cartas went 1-for-3 with one home run, while McLellan went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI McLellan has posted since April 2nd. Lyndon Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Logan County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Logan County now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Russellville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
