Baseball Game Preview: Hidden Valley Mustangs vs. Sweet Home Huskies

The Hidden Valley Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Sweet Home Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hidden Valley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Hidden Valley barely beat Estacada the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Hidden Valley never let Estacada get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Alijah Zauher made a big impact no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Zauher was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Kuhnert, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Logan Law was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Sweet Home was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 12-2 to Phoenix. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sweet Home saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conner Northern, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Hidden Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Home, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Everything went Hidden Valley's way against Sweet Home in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, as Hidden Valley made off with a 12-0 win. Does Hidden Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sweet Home turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
