Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Golden Bears vs. Blue River Valley Vikings

Monroe Central was the 12-7 winner over Blue River Valley when they last played one another back in April of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Monroe Central Golden Bears fell just short of the Blue River Valley Vikings by a score of 7-6 on Thursday.

Carter Duncan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Luedike, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases.

On Blue River Valley's side, Gunnar Hannis was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Hannis has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Hannis was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Kye Golliher was incredible, going 4-for-4 with four RBI.
