Softball Preview: Genesee Bulldogs vs. Lapwai Wildcats
Genesee has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lapwai recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Genesee will head out on the road to face off against Lapwai at 4:30 p.m. Genesee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.4 runs per game this season.
Genesee blew Asotin out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Asotin got their revenge. Genesee fell just short of Asotin by a score of 14-12. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this match were averaging four runs allowed.

Kendra Meyer was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over 8.1 innings while giving up five earned (and seven unearned) runs off 14 hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-6. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Rylie Baysinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-5. Makayla Herman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Genesee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Lapwai was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Clearwater Valley, falling 41-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Having lost for the first time this season, Genesee fell to 4-1. As for Lapwai, their record is now 0-2.
