Recap: Florence Huskies vs. La Junta Tigers
The Florence Huskies won the last time they faced the La Junta Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Florence slipped by La Junta 14-13.
It was another big night for Luguse Nuss, who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Nuss' longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Gage Goodall also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, La Junta still got an impressive performance from Rylan Schmidt, who rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Schmidt hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for five straight games.
Florence's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for La Junta, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-1.
Florence will square off against University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. University will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for La Junta, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pagosa Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pagosa Springs is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
