After a string of six wins, Tremont's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 70-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lexington Minutemen. The Turks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Minutemen earlier this season, when they won 67-61.
Lexington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joe Cheever out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Blaine Friedmansky, who posted 15 points and five assists.
Tremont's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 17-3. As for Lexington, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Tremont will venture away from home to take on LeRoy at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. Tremont knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully LeRoy likes a good challenge. As for Lexington, they will square off against Tri-Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Tri-Valley sitting on four straight wins and Lexington on six.
