Basketball Recap: North Penn-Mansfield Skates Past Athens with Ease

North Penn-Mansfield won the last time they faced Athens and things went their way on Tuesday too. The North Penn-Mansfield Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Athens Wildcats 62-35. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Cooper Shaw continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Tayton Strange, who posted 13 points.

North Penn-Mansfield was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Athens only racked up eight assists.

Athens' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lucas Shultz, who put up nine points and six rebounds, and Talon Baglini, who had ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jase Babcock, who earned six points.

North Penn-Mansfield's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Athens, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Penn-Mansfield will venture away from home to square off against Wyalusing Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Penn-Mansfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season. As for Athens, they are taking a road trip to challenge Troy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
