Softball Recap: Gulf Coast Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Evangelical Christian, Gulf Coast was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Babcock Trailblazers.

Keyah Kamara spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gulf Coast's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kadi Hodgson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Hodgson has posted since back in April of 2025.

Gulf Coast's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Babcock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-9.

Looking ahead, Gulf Coast will take on Estero at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Babcock, they will welcome Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
