Basketball Recap: Gavin Owens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mogollon over Willcox

Mogollon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 55-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Willcox Cowboys.

Mogollon lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gavin Owens, who went 5 of 8 en route to 11 points and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Starks, who posted 11 points.

Mogollon's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Willcox, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mogollon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-27 loss against Show Low on the 3rd. As for Willcox, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-45 defeat against Thatcher on the 3rd.
